Hello! My name is Marie Ashley. I love Deviantart because it brings together a world of wonderfully talented people so they can share their work and dreams. Painters, photographers, sculptors, writers and artists of every kind are right here and at the same time all over the world. Simply wonderful!

While I see a lot of photographers represented here, I have not yet found models represented as artists. I want to change that.

I was a model in the early half of the 20th century. This was my both my art and my livelihood. My first husband, Arthur Bliss Conkwright, took many of my fashion pictures. He was a photographer and an actor. Everyone called him Conky and he had a lot of friends in the early silent film industry in New York. I was very famous in those days, and we really had fun in the Roaring Twenties.

I was born on November 4th, 1900, in the Bronx in New York. My parents Genevieve and Charles Dieda came to New York at the end of the 19th, century from the Alsace-Lorraine region between Germany and France.

I died on New Years Eve, 1994, when I was 94. I had an exciting life and much of it was captured in pictures by Conky and later by my second husband James Russell Ashley. Now, this being-dead thing can’t stop a busy gal from enjoying Deviantart. I hope you enjoy my life in pictures. I sure did! I guess I'm sharing these pages with Conky and Jim because we all worked together to make these pictures. And I hope more models will show us their art.
